In 1904 – the year the Russo-Japanese War broke out – brewery manager Shinbei Inui, who founded Inui Steamship Co., Ltd., imported a used ship from England, thereby becoming a ship owner. He then set up the Inui Partnership Corporation in 1908. The company has thus engaged in shipping for over five generations.
Thanks to all of you, we proudly observed our 100th anniversary in 2004, despite the interventions of war, turmoil, and economic fluctuations. Our voyage has continued thanks to the sweat of our brow and to all those who have lent us their earnest, ongoing, and kind support. I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to all of you at this time.
We now face the challenge of reinforcing our fleet so that we may continue progress and strengthen our competitive power in a new century. We will ensure global expansion through handy bulk carriers centering on small handy vessels that provide high-quality service to our customers. We are moving vigorously forward in becoming a company that earns your reliance and loyalty, and by placing high priority on the conservation of the marine and global environments and on safe navigation through transparent management and the observance of corporate governance and compliance.
Many points remain to be worked on, and I seek your continued support in these efforts.
Shingo Inui
